A/Prof David Tan, Medical Oncologist
Senior Consultant at the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore
Dr. David Tan is a medical oncologist and clinician scientist at the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore, and an Associate Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. He is also Head of the Innovation Transfer Office at National University Health Systems (NUHS) and serves as a Principal Investigator at the Cancer Science Institute, NUS. Specialising in gynaecological cancers, his research focuses on the development of novel anti-cancer therapeutic agents.
Dr. Tan earned his medical degree from the University of London and completed further training in oncology at prestigious institutions such as The Royal Marsden Hospital and the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
He is the founding President of the Gynaecologic Cancer Group Singapore and has held leadership roles in regional and global gynaecologic cancer research networks.
Prof Carien Creutzberg
Radiation Oncologist, Leiden University Medical Centre, Netherlands
Prof. Carien Creutzberg, a Professor of Radiation Oncology at Leiden University Medical Center, has dedicated over 30 years to clinical research aimed at improving the treatment and quality of life for patients with gynaecological cancers.
As the chief investigator of the internationally recognised PORTEC trials on endometrial cancer, her work has influenced global treatment guidelines. She also founded the TransPORTEC Consortium, advancing molecular understanding of endometrial cancer. A co-founder of the Dutch Gynaecological Oncology Group, she has held leadership roles in numerous international gynaecologic oncology societies. Her contributions to multidisciplinary and global collaboration earned her the IGCS Lifetime Achievement Award, reflecting her lasting impact on cancer research and care.
Dr Lisa Bazzett-Matabele
Gynaecological Oncologist, University of Botswana, School of Medicine, BOTSWANA
Dr. Bazzett practiced and taught gynaecologic oncology at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans for 15 years before shifting her focus to teaching and practicing in limited-resource settings. From 2015 to 2019, as a Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor at Yale University, she worked in Rwanda through the Human Resources for Health program, where she was the only gynaecologic oncologist serving Rwanda, the DRC, and Burundi. There, she developed alternative treatment strategies for cervical cancer and worked with local specialists to address healthcare barriers. In 2019, she became Head of the OBGYN Department at the University of Botswana, where she helped establish a full OBGYN residency program.
